Fabric Drape is a term used to describe how attractive a fabric looks when it is worn as a garment. Study of drape assumed importance with the great advancement in the computer technology and computer aided design (CAD) system. The research workers treacled drape with all seriousness because fashion designers need to produce exact image of the fabric with the folds and curves on the computer monitor. This requires generating a suitable algorithm encompassing the complex physical parameters of the fabric. Starting from the Cusick Drape Tester, the instruments have undergone developments to incorporate CCD camera and computer analysis of the images of the fabrics obtained thereof. Subsequently, in order to generate the highly realistic images of fabrics, Finite Element Analysis was resorted to carry out the computation of the physical parameters to simulate and predict the drape behaviour.
