Mother nature never ceases to amaze us. In recent times, though, the amazement is not very pleasant. Even while the world is recuperating from the Covid pandemic one variant at a time, less mortals are exposed to harsher trials by the ill effects of global warming. Uttarakhand flood began in the first week of February in the environs of the Nanda Devi National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the outer Garhwal Himalayas in Uttarakhand state. While in another part of the world, heating Arctic may be to blame for snowstorms in Texas, USA. The cold forced some residents to choose between staying in dark and cold homes, some with frozen or broken water pipes, or face possible COVID-19 exposure at local relief centers. Disaster within disaster.It's rare to witness a first world nation facing such calamities where roughly 5 million people in Texas have had to deal with outages as power generators and natural gas pipes froze, crippling the state's production capabilities. Majority of the homes have heating facilities based on either of the following: Solar Heating, Geothermal Heating, Radiant Floor Heat, Hybrid Furnaces and Wood Stove. However, in the case of electricity failure and no sun for days on end together, this mechanism is highly vulnerable.
