A comparative study on properties of compact spun and slub yarns differing in linear densities

The present study was conducted to assess the compact slub yarns quality in comparison with that of compact spun yarn (viscose cotton blended yarn ) differing in linear densities namely 24 Ne and 30 Ne respectively. Mechanical properties such as single yarn strength, elongation, TPI, hairiness index, RKM, yarn imperfections, thin places, thick places, yarn neps, and CV% of both types of yarns were tested and compared. Compact spun yarns exhibited excellent strength, elongation, evenness and yarn quality index compared to compact slub yarns.
