It's always an overwhelming sight to see people go out of their way to help others in difficult times. With a country with huge demographic and geographic diversity as ours, draughts and floods hit the headlines simultaneously requiring relief of all sorts almost throughout the year. But the one headline that caught my attention was one which said about a group of women of Surat's self-help group (SHG) sending 10,000 sanitary pads as Rakshabandhan gift to their sisters in Kerala's flood hit regions. The women had recently set up a sanitary pad manufacturing unit at Ichhapore with the support from a leading sanitary napkin making manufacturer. Indeed a gratifying gesture.
