A study on mosquito repellent fabric finished with microencapsulated herbal extracts

摘要

In this study, cotton modal blended fabric have been used for microencapsulation finishing by herbal extract with ionic gelation method in order to improve the wash durability of the fabric. The three herbs Plectranthus amboinicus, Phylanthus emblica, and Citrus lemon and the shell material acacia powder have been used. Then the fabrics were tested for functional properties like mosquito repellency, physical properties, and wash durability and also the fabrics were analyzed for allergic tests. The test results showed that 100 % modal fabric had very good mosquito repellency and there is no allergic reaction found. The durability was also achieved up to 5 washes by using acacia powder gum material.
