Simulating air quality in Allegheny County presents challengesbecause of the high contributions from both regional transportand local sources, and the complex terrain and resultantcomplicated meteorological conditions. This article discussedthe evolution of air quality modeling in Allegheny County toaddress PM2.5 and SO2 SIPs and the model improvements inrepresenting air impacts in the region.
