Structural Performance Of Rc Flat Plate Slab Shear-reinforced Interior Connections Under Lateral Loading

The results of an experiment on the structural performance of reinforced concrete (RC) slab-column connections are presented in this paper. The first of five specimens was identified as the control specimen. Two were strengthened by stud rails and the others were reinforced by studs on steel plates. Specimens were tested under constant gravity load and a reversed cyclic lateral displacement. Punching shear failure occurred in the control specimen. Punching shear failure was not observed in the reinforced specimens. The specimens reinforced by studs on steel plates exhibited an increase of 52·3% in ductility compared to the control specimen. The flat plate slabs strengthened by studs on steel plates showed increased deformation resistance capacity and ductility while not undergoing punching shear failure.
