What do we mean by concrete?

Traditionally, articles in the Magazine of Concrete Research (MCR) have dealt with concrete as conventionally defined. By that I mean, to many, concrete is defined in the Collins' English Dictionary/Thesaurus sense as 'a building material made of cement, sand, aggregate and water that hardens as it dries'. Firstly, hardening has nothing to do with drying - quite the contrary - but it is a popular perception.
