Develop Domino Java Agents in Eclipse

When I began using the Eclipse integrated development environment (IDE) to develop a Java application as part of a Domino solution, I was immediately impressed with its power and flexibility. I realized this is an absolutely essential tool for anyone developing Java code. It is to Java development what Visual Studio is to Microsoft languages, and in some respects, it's even better. My most recent efforts using Eclipse led me to find a way to use it to do all my Domino Java agent development outside the Designer client. If you've been frustrated with the difficulty of developing Java agents in the Designer client, or if you want to kick up your Java development capabilities five or 10 notches, you'll understand why I'm so excited about this amazing tool. In this article, I explain what Eclipse is, where to get this free development tool, and some of my favorite features. I will also explain how to install it and how to create your first Eclipse project and Java class. Before going into how I use Eclipse, and showing you how to install it and make it your primary Domino Java development tool, I'll explain what Eclipse is and list some of my favorite features.
