Middle East poised to meet Asian and Atlantic Basin LNG needs

Ras Laffan in northern Qatar is the world's leading LNG export terminal. The port's six dedicated LNG berths loaded 32 per cent of the LNG traded worldwide in 2012 and accounted for 25 per cent of laden voyages by LNG carriers. Qatargas and RasGas, the two major Qatar Petroleum (QP) joint venture companies, each operate seven LNG production trains at the 57km~2 Ras Laffan Industrial City complex. The 14 trains have a total annual production capacity of 77 million tonnes (mt).
