Readying ships for an LNG-fuelled future

DNV GL has developed a service that provides decision support to shipowners, designers and shipbuilders seeking to make their newbuildings ready for future LNG running. The aim of the new LNG Ready package, which encompasses expert technical advice, financial feasibility studies and risk assessment analyses, is to help in the choice of an optimised vessel design. Such a ship would be in compliance with all existing and anticipated environmental legislation and yield an optimised performance over the life of the ship. The latter is a particularly important consideration in view of the large share of a ship's running costs accounted for by its fuel.
