SEADRILL GHANA OPERATIONS LTD v TULLOW GHANA LTD

The defendant (Tullow) had been granted two petroleum concessions off the coast of Ghana by the Government of Ghana. The concessions were to the east of the boundary between Cote d’Ivoire and Ghana, in water claimed by Ghana. One concession, known as West Cape Three Points, included the Jubilee oilfield. The other concession, known as Deepwater Tano, included three oilfields collectively known as TEN (Tweneboa, Enyenra and Ntomme). Part of the Jubilee field was also in Deepwater Tano so that Jubilee straddled both concessions. Tullow operated both TEN and Jubilee on behalf of joint venture partners.
