Subsequently there have been line additions and extensions that have created France's longest network, with extensive central coverage and lines to suburbs and townships. The effect of the tramway on the city has been little short of transformational, with greater social inclusion and lessening the effects of 'ghettoisation' that often come from self-enclosed neighbourhoods.
