On 6 May, Queensland Premier Anna Bligh announced that the AUD949m (EUR710m) public/ private partnership for the construction and operation of the Gold Coast Rapid Transit Project (GCRT) has been awarded to the GoldLinQ consortium.rnIn an 18-year contract with the Queensland State Government, GoldLinQ will design, build, finance, operate and maintain the 13km (eight-mile), 16-stop route between the Gold Coast University Hospital and Broadbeach. Patronage numbers are expected to grow to 50 000 passengers per day and GoldLinQ has in-built capacity to cater for up to 75 000.
