ALSTOM/TRANSMASH TO BUILD ST PETERSBURG'S EXPRESS TRAMWAY

Alstom transport and its Russian partner Transmashhold-ing have signed a memorandum of understanding with the city of St Petersburg covering a programme of co-operation for the development of a modern low-floor express tramway network. It includes the proposed light rail lines planned to feed the metro system. The companies will also advise the city on modernising its 1524mm-gauge tramway.
