The first Vossloh Citylink tram-train (designated Class 399) was delivered to Sheffield's Nunnery Depot on 1 December 2015. It was immediately shunted in to the paintshop, where additional Supertram livery details were applied ahead of an unveiling by UK Parliamentary-Under Secretary of State for Transport, Andrew Jones, on 10 December. The visiting party included local authority representatives and Member of Parliament for Sheffield Attercliffe Clive Betts, who undertook a depot tour to see the adaptations made for the new cars before 399-201 was driven out onto the trackfan, where Mr Jones cut a ribbon tied across one of the doors. The Transport Minister remarked: "This Government-funded pioneering project will transform travel in South Yorkshire... Good strategic transport links and infrastructure are central to rebalancing the economy, bringing the country closer together and [to] the success of the Northern Powerhouse."
