Video-on-demand services are celebrating their triumphal march all over the world. In view of the booming streaming market and the decline in the purchase market for media such as DVDs and the necessary playback devices for private use, libraries and video streaming providers are faced with the challenge of creating an alternative that meets the changing needs of users while at the same time meeting the largely unchanged acquisition budgets of libraries.
