When Smitty Miller (pictured) was hired by Canada's Fraser Valley Regional Library last year for the new position of community development librarian, she had one task: build a mobile initiative She began researching a bookmobile but couldn't afford it. So, said Miller, "I decided to take the books out of the equation." She chose a Nissan Cube, and local auto customization shop 360 Fabrication donated more than $35,000 worth of labor and equipment to create LiLi (short for Library Live), complete with TV, Xbox, monitor, gadget bar, Internet-connected laptops, and speakers. LiLi and Miller started Library Live and On Tour! in April.
