Leather International: Why has the CTC Group developed the Waste Water Index? Dr Jean-Claude Cannot: First of all, it's safe to say the global market has evolved. Brands are changing their approach when it comes to pollution and the impact their actions have on the environment. Today, companies are concerned with becoming more aware of their responsibilities -internally and externally - under the heading of corporate social responsibility (CSR), which functions as a self-regulatory mechanism whereby a business monitors and ensures its active compliance with the spirit of the law, ethical standards and international regulations. Supply chain environmental issues, of which wastewater is one, are being dealt with more and more as part of a global company policy, showing a willingness to embrace the need to have strong ethics, values and the passion to do good, while still maintaining a strong, thriving and profitable business.
