Until now, not much has actually been written about leather seats in aircraft, and why certain airlines equip their planes with leather and others do not. So I thought that I'd be a good boy and write a nice article about aircraft seats. It all starts with engineering and design teams - which operate on account of the commissioning airline-that design aircraft cabins. The aircraft manufacturer does not produce the aircraft seats; this is done by original equipment manufacturers (OEM) that work for the airlines. Aviation regulatory bodies like the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the aircraft manufacturers establish the technical requirements of the aircraft seats and their covers. This consists mainly of flammability, toxicity and smoke-reduction demands, and weight restrictions.
