It's not easy, or easily justifiable, to summarise a whole year in a few hundred words. But, in this issue, we can look back on a year full of big achievement and optimism for the leather industry. Granted, the short term may have a few bumps in the road, especially in China as many tanneries there come to terms with tighter regulations, but the big picture casts a glow of optimism. Of course, leather still has its work cut out. Fringe and pressure groups still poison the air (natural and virtual) about how leather is produced, and collectively we need to unashamedly counteract malicious and ill-based claims against its existence Another post from an error-laced piece was recently referenced on the Leather International LinkedIn group, which garnered some great discussion (page 6).
