Shipments from France's leather industry advanced by 6% last year, totalling €9.9 billion. According to data released by industry representative body Conseil National du Cuir (CNC), neighbour Italy was the country's biggest customer, responsible for 14% of the value, followed by the US - which was responsible for 10% of shipments - and Hong Kong (9%). French tanners saw all three destination markets grow in value, advancing by 6, 1 and 9%, respectively. According the CNC, Singapore was also a success story last year, where export revenues surged by 53%, year on year, to €782 million. Comprising more than 9,400 companies, France's leather industry has a reported total turnover of €25 billion.
