摘要

Being an exceptional leader is a never-ending challenge. Thinking and acting as a leader that people willingly follow requires the ability and desire to look at leadership from as many angles as possible. Everyone is familiar with the expression "Choose your battles." Marshall Goldsmith provides a nuanced and fresh perspective on this when discussing how leaders should approach conflicts with others. He weaves in succinct stories, such as the "Parable of the Empty Boat," to demonstrate that many times we get angry and expend energy on the wrong targets. Sometimes that target is inadvertently ourselves. His insights are drawn from thirty-five years as one of the country's top executive coaches. Once we discover what's really important in any given situation or encounter, "we block out the chatter and noise-we make peace with what we are not going to change-freeing ourselves to tackle the changes that really matter in our lives."
