How do companies come up with new business models? This is something observers may take for granted, but a well-thought-out, well-executed business model can be a sustained organizational advantage. There are a number of ways companies can conceptualize new business models; this is the theme of the article "Unlocking the Hidden Value of Concepts: A Cognitive Approach to Business Model Innovation," by Luis L. Martins, Violina P. Rindova, and Bruce E. Greenbaum, in Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal (2015). The authors are professors at the McCombs School of Business, University of Texas at Austin.
