The Cisco Broadband Barometer said that Peru s broadband user base increased 23.4 percent in 2007. In December 2007, the country had 598,259 connections comprising more than 113,000 new additions. However, Peru s broadband penetration rate still stands at a meager 2.3 percent, which is much below the penetration levels in other nations in the Latin American region, including Argentina (6.6 percent), Chile (8.8 percent), and Brazil (4 percent). Broadband connections using fixed wireless, cable modem, and ADSL reached 591,125.
