Mobile subscribers rise 7% in 2011, regulator says

Uruguay's telecoms regulator, Unidad Reguladora de Servicios de Comunicaciones (URSEC), has published its 2011 report on the country's telecoms market, which states that the number of mobile subscribers rose 7.2% year-on-year to reach 4.757 million as of December 31, 2011. Of that total, pre-paid subscribers accounted for the majority (3.337 million), while the number of post-paid customers stood at 1.419 million, up from 1.215 million twelve months earlier.
