Telebras inks fiber sharing deal with Cemig Telecom

Brazilian state-controlled telecoms group Telecomunicacoes Brasileiras (Telebras) has signed a fiber-optic network sharing agreement with local carrier Cemig Telecom, to expand the eastern ring of the country's National Broadband Programme (PNBL) to the cities Rio de Janeiro, Campinas and Belo Horizonte. It is understood that the partnership between Telebras and Cemig Telecom, which is owned by Companhia Energetica de Minas Gerais, may be expanded in the future and will also include fiber infrastructure in Minas Gerais state.
