Dominican cable company Aster sold for USD$27 million

The Dominican Republic cable operator Aster Comunicaciones has been sold via auction to local utility group Consorcio Energetico Punta Cana-Macao (CEPM) for USD$27 million. Domestic telecom providers Codetel, Tricom and Wind Telecom also participated in the auction process. Aster had been under the control of administrators at the Dominican Republic's Central Bank since 2009 following the collapse of the cable company's owner Banco Intercontinental (Baninter).
