Movistar Chile, Nokia hit 1Gbps in first Latin America 4.5G Pro demo

Movistar Chile (Telefonica) and Nokia have hit mobile speeds of 1Gbps in what they describe as the first demonstration of 4.5G Pro technology in Latin America. The partners used a combination of advanced transmission techniques including carrier aggregation across the 700MHz and 2600MHz frequency bands, MlMO technology and 256 QAM (quadrature amplitude modulation) to achieve faster speeds via the Nokia AirScale base station. Earlier this year the companies reached similar speeds in a demonstration of XGS-PON technology via a fiber-optic network.
