DISH of the day; satellite firm serves up FWA using Red Compartida

Satellite TV giant DISH Mexico has reportedly launched a fixed-wireless broadband service in Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey and the State of Mexico using the open-access 700MHz Red Compartida network. According to El Universal, the new service is understood to deliver download transmission speeds of up to 20Mbps, with a standalone service priced at MXN599 (US$31.2) per month. Previously, in 2017, DISH launched its DISH Celular MVNO, in association with fellow virtual operator FreedomPop. According to the most recent data from the Federal Telecommunications Institute (Instituto Federal de Telecomunicaciones, IFT), DISH ended 1Q18 with a 16.1% share of the Mexican pay-TV sector, equivalent to 3.641 million satellite TV subscribers - giving it a sizeable user base to cross-sell to.
