To Christie, parks are the most precious places on our planet

Park safety has many forms. Cooking on camp fires can set forests ablaze destroying trees, birds and animals. Coals left after camp fires often scar and damage pristine wilderness. Campers devastate the habitats of small animals and birds by gathering sticks and leaves for their camp fires. So, not only do park managers need to protect flora and fauna from dangerous fires, they must also find the funds and man-power to repairthe damage to the environment caused by camp fires. By 1974, cooking in our world's parks had become a serious threat. That inspired D. A. Christie to design and manufacture a solution; the Christie 'Parksafe' BBQ. Christie Parksafe BBQs are totally enclosed and self-contained with no exposed flames or sparks. The hotplate cooks perfectly without the need to gather fuel to burn. Cleaning and maintenance is easy and there's also no need to dump coals or hot embers after cooking.
