Bridging the crossroads between biological preferences, i.e. "the green look", and civil engineering requirements can be a difficult proposition. The devel- opment of a method that is economical, environmentally friendly, and provides a documented structural element is no easy task. This issue has been effectively and uniquely answered on Beaver Creek in Brown Deer, Wisconsin. The 700-foot-long bank stabilization project is only one stretch of the 2.8 mile long Beaver Creek that drains a watershed of approximately 2,200 acres into (including the Village of Brown Deer, portions of the City of Milwaukee, and Village of Mequon) the Milwaukee River, which eventually flows into Lake Michigan.
