Walnut Brook Riparian Restoration Project

The Walnut Brook Riparian Restoration Project includes elements of stream stabilization, riparian restoration, and wetland creation to serve the project goal of floodplain restoration. The project is an example of how urbanizing watersheds take their toll on stream corridors and how we can take steps to mitigate those impacts. Located in Raritan Township, Hunter-don County, New Jersey the site is located northeast of the intersection of Old Croton Road and State Route 12 and is bounded on all sides by municipal parkland and land trust owned farmland. A trout maintenance watercourse, Walnut Brook begins northwest of the subject site and continues in a southeasterly direction to the First Neshanic River approximately one mile downstream of the southeastern property boundary. The total drainage area to Walnut Brook is 2.87 square miles.
