First 8 French and first 2 Italian FREMM frigates are under construction; entire program of 27 may not be built. Royal Navy of Oman officially selected Oto Melara guns to equip a single mount on each of three 2,500-ton Project Khareef OPV (Ocean Patrol Vessels). Other nations have expressed interest in the FREMM configuration; however, Spain rejects FREMM in favor of a national solution.
