Friction Condition Effect on the Deep Drawing Process Usina Taguchi Method

摘要

Deep drawing is one manufacturing method widely used in automotive, aircraft, and home appliances industries. The friction condition between blank and the tools is one of the most influencing factors to the whole deep drawing process. In this paper the friction condition between blank and punch, between blank and die, between blank and blank holder are investigated to find which one is more influencing in the process. Several parameters, fracture depth, maximum thinning thickness, maximum major strain and minor strain, which indicate the process quality, are chosen as the evaluating criterion. Two blank holder types, integrated and divided one, are adopted to compare the influencing extent irrespectively. Taguchi method is the main tool used to sort the order of three friction conditions in the deep drawing process. The results reveal that the friction between blank and punch is the most influencing factor in the deep drawing process compare with the other ones. The friction between sheet and die is the second one. So the least is the friction between sheet and holder. The comparison of the result data with different blank holder systems shows that using divided blank holder does benefit the forming process. The fracture depth will be greater using divided blank holder than using the integrated one. And the thickness of sheet metal will be evener with divided blank holder. Major strain and minor strain is a little greater using integrated holder than using divided one.
