In her book, Building Communities: Social Networking for Academic Libraries, author Denise A. Garofalo stresses that "it is essential to remember that social networking is not about technology but is rather about building relationships" (23). The use of social networking can play an important role in marketing and showcasing resources in academic libraries, and this concise book looks at the what, why, and how of social media and social networking, using case studies and other real-life examples to show how libraries are currently employing these tools.
