摘要

Some of the most exciting technologies in the current marketplace are those coming from 2D and 3D information visualization, especially augmented, virtual, and mixed reality. Augmented reality is a technological enhancement of actual reality; examples include heads-up displays in aircraft and Pokemon GO for smartphones. Virtual reality is computer-generated "reality;" examples include 3D anatomical visualizations for nursing programs and video games that simulate warfare or historical events. Mixed reality is a blend of augmented and virtual reality. This book contains nine chapters, mainly case studies, of libraries which have experimented with one or more of these realities, or incorporated them into their services.
