One of the first concepts that I like new weavers to understand is that they are in control as to when the warp ends dominate or when the weft picks dominate in a cloth. There are two ways this can be achieved: 1. By altering the sett. a. If the warp ends are closely sett together they will dominate in the cloth. b. If the warp ends are spread more widely apart the weft picks will dominate in the cloth. 2. By changing the weave structure. If the sett of your cloth is balanced (ie. with the same number of ends per inch as picks per inch), then the emphasis of the warp domination against the weft domination can be varied according to the weave.
