Designing and Weaving Complex Weaves & Freeform Designs on a 4 shaft loom Tutor: Annie Devriese

Summer school was again a delight. I did wonder if I had signed up for something too 'complex' for me, but our tutor Annie Devriese was very patient, explained everything carefully and was good at watching, but not interrupting, when we were counting threads in our work. She was always available to show the techniques yet again to those of us who could not grasp the intricacies.rnTwelve students worked through many complex weaves using the loom to aid pick-up, with hopsack, summer/winter, various twills, satin weave, damask, samitum, taquete', double weave and lampas. The last two were threaded onto Annie's looms and we all used these, ending with a sample of them each.
