A History of the Quantock Weavers and the Founding of the Somerset Guild

In 2019 it will be the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Somerset Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers, and they are planning to celebrate in style with an extra big Fleece Fair and an exhibition. The Somerset Guild is a busy, thriving organisation with a membership of over one hundred. Members meet monthly at Hatch Beauchamp, a village close to the county town of Taunton. This would seem to be an appropriate moment to consider the foundations of the Guild -which have given it such strength -and to look at the motivations and enthusiasm for our crafts.
