If, like me, you have a fear of the word 'sketchbook', then this book is worth having. From the very first few pages the author takes the reader on a journey which is brilliantly illustrated with colour photographs of her own sketchbooks. She gives us some very good reasons for keeping sketchbooks, and understands that the reason a lot of us don't is because of our lack of confidence in our drawing skills. As you progress through the pages, this book covers marking your sketchbook with a variety of media, from ink, watercolour and crayons through to threads, stitches and fabrics. There are instructions for making your own simple sketchbooks into a journal of your recent travels, or just a walk in a beautiful area. Encouragement is given to collect small treasures along the way, to be safely stored in transparent pockets in your book.
