Formation and Planning Tasks of New Townscape Inheriting From Traditional Style: A case of historic area in Furukawa-cho, Gifu prefecture

摘要

The central area of Furukawa-cho in Gifu Prefecture is notable for its unique townscape mainly consisted of newly build vernacular houses which inherit from regional traditional architectural style and are still increasing. In this study we analyze the process of formation of the present townscape in Furukawa. We also aim to acquire the knowledge needed for future planning in this area. Based on photographs, field survey and hearing, analysis was made from two points of view; architectural style and townscape.
