摘要

The paper presents the results of investigation of clarification and decoloration of low concentration aqueous suspensions of green and red clays with and without the presence of humic substances in the process of coagulation purification with aluminum or iron sulfate. It was established that coagulation activity rises as the salt content decreases. It provides sufficient grounds to believe that the dominant part in this process belongs to mutual coagulation of positively charged particles of a metal hydroxide (aluminum and iron) and negatively charged particles of clay. Hydrolysis of coagulating agents, formation of primary particles, and sorption of humic substances on these particles were shown to run faster than the stages of formation and settling of floes.
