These terms merely represent a convenient way of describing the need for fundamental changes in the way architecture will be perceived and built in the new millennium ... It is an accepted premise that all buildings are embodied in a weighty physicality, constrained by economics, and indebted to construction technology. The main objective now is to shift the conceptual priorities from material to immaterial, from hermetic to absorptive, from abstract to informational, and from wasteful to green. The mission also refers to a breaking down of barriers that have traditionally separated art, buildings, landscape, and the greater social/ecological context.
