Many readers of this journal, at least those from Europe, will have experience with European integration, for example as consumers benefiting from the Common Market or as researchers utilising European funds and mobility schemes. This book looks back at times when such collaboration and integration of policies was only emerging, and provides insights into the complex administrative, technical and procedural issues that had to be solved to get on the way what we now perceive as a working cross-border community.
