After many years without an up-to-date transport geography text book, in 2006 Nuhn and Hesse's Verkehrsgeographie (Transport Geography) bridged a major gap in German human geography literature. This highly readable book provides very detailed information about a wide range of contemporary transport, traffic and mobility issues. Very similar to one of its English counterpart: Geography of Transport Systems (Rodrigue et al., 2006), it offers not only a clear overview of the field, but also characterises the growing importance of transport and mobility subjects within modern human geography. Verkehrsgeographie is addressed primarily to students of geography who are looking for a compact but informative introduction to the field of transport and mobility. Due to the clear language and an extensive cross-referencing, also undergraduates and scientists of relative disciplines, like economic or social sciences, or secondary school teachers will find an easy and useful access to the undoubted complexity of today's transport geographies.
