摘要

The ability to organize dipolar molecules in uniform orientations has been a big challenge since they have a strong tendency to self-assemble centrosymmetrically, leading to cancellation of individual dipole moments. Some successes have been made during their organization into thin films on substrates. The three most widely investigated methodologies were the formation of Langmuir-Blodget films, self-assembled monolayers, and the electrically polled polymer films imbedded with dipolar molecules.
