摘要

There is a major ongoing research effort to identify oligonucle-otide and protein biomarkers of malignant disease. Phospholipid biomarkers are less common; however, there is increasing evidence that the membrane surfaces of certain cells and particles of biomedical significance, such as apoptotic cells, activated cells, tumor vasculature, microvesicles, bacteria, and viruses, expose unusually high levels of negatively charged phospholipids.
