摘要

Discovery of the fourth tungsten oxidoreductase (WOR4) from hyperthermophilic archaeon Pyrococcus furiosus has expanded coordination and bioinorganic chemistry of heavy metal ions. The WOR4 enzyme plays an important role in the elemental sulfur (S~0) metabolism, reducing S~0 to hydrogensulfide in the presence of dihydrogen (eq 1). By this function, the WOR4 enzyme is distinguished from other tungsten enzymes.
