Investigation of worsted woven fabric's static friction coefficient considering fabric direction

摘要

Fabric friction can influence its hand and abrasion resistance during wear and human perception of fabric when touched. It is known that fabric friction depends on the fabric and yarn's structural parameters and constituent fibers as well. Since fabrics are discontinuous materials that are made up of warp and weft interlacement, it seems that the change of fabric direction can alter the friction. In this study, the static friction coefficient of worsted fabrics with the various weave patterns including plain, Twill2/2, Twill2/1 and Hopsack 2/2 were measured in different directions through the inclined plane method. It was discovered that the sample's direction variation leads to the friction alteration in a small range. Moreover, the change of the sled and platform's samples with each other has no considerable impact on the friction coefficient. In addition, in each slip direction, the distance between warp and weft interlacing points affects the friction coefficient due to their roughness.
